BEAUTY BAR: Top Notch

When the top-knot trend became popular last year, many people were unsure about this half-up top knot, me being one of them. From ponytails to top knots, this hair trend took the fashion and beauty world by storm. From the Khloe Kardashian to YouTube star, Zoella, the half-up half-down top knot trend was madly growing. It trickled down from celebrities and fashion leaders to the masses, and I have to say, I love this look. I’m sure you have seen it all over campus, as it’s an easy look for going to class or going out to dinner with friends. It is a perfect in-between, especially in the hot south, for keeping the hair out of your face, but still being able to keep your hair down.

This college Fashionista is rockin’ the half-up top knot on this hot spring day here in Georgia. Her loose curls really framed her face well and kept her look more polished. Not only was the maroon color perfect for her skin tone, the super cute cotton tank really kept the eye on her face. Cotton is the perfect fabric to wear especially during hot summer because it is breathable and keeps you cool. I cannot stress enough what a perfect pair of jeans does for you. I personally love a nice dark wash skinny jean, like this Fashionista is wearing. She kept her look simple with some green sandals and simple cream dangle earrings. Her whole outfit was centered around her beautiful blonde hair, which I absolutely adore, and of course that cute top-knot.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To complete this look you need a hair tie, a curling iron or wand and do not forget the heat protectant. Simply curl your hair and pull out the curls with your fingers or a brush (you don’t want to look like Shirley Temple here). Take the top section of your hair and pull up into a pony tail and wind it around into a knot. It might take you a couple of tires to get it to how you like it, but practice makes perfect right?
