BEAUTY BAR: Top Knot Central

As spring came to a close and summer finally began, a new hair trend was officially born. This trend came about by making one simple change to the classic half-up-half-down look. Instead of half of your hair in a ponytail, it’s now in a bun. Simple enough, right? Wrong. This trend has proven to be more difficult to master than one would think, especially if your hair is thinner than others. My favorite reason to rock the top knot? It works wonders with any outfit of choice.

This Fashionista has truly mastered this hair trend. Not only is her top knot crafted perfectly, but her purple hair brings the right amount of edge to fully pull this trend off. The top knot can work for almost any occasion and with any style. This Fashionista pairs her hair trend with the perfect summer outfit. Her soft, flowy, tie-dye dress and her strappy sandals make for a great daytime outfit to have lunch with friends, walk on the beach or run errands. The top knot can also be paired with edgier outfits like a black T-shirt, high-waisted distressed shorts and a pair of Dr. Martens. This trend is even more versatile than you would think. Try pairing it with a cocktail dress for a night on the town, summer wedding or date night to mix it up from your regular routine! The absolute best part about this trend is that it works with short, long, straight or curly hair!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? You can recreate this look with items most Fashionistas will already have. All you need is one or two small hair ties (size should vary with thickness of hair; thinner hair with smaller hair ties) and a few bobby pins just in case! This Fashionista created this look by pulling half of her hair into a ponytail for structure, and used a second hair tie to bring the ponytail into a bun. Voila! That’s all it takes!
