BEAUTY BAR: Think Pink

One of my favorite things to see on campus is when someone’s entire outfit and makeup slay. As some of us may know, getting our makeup to look just right to match our chosen outfit of the day can be the ultimate struggle. There are days where we may feel that our outfit does not match our makeup or vice versa. However, this is not the case for this Fashionista.

Now that spring has officially begun, it’s time to dust off those colorful lippies that have been dying to take a stroll in the park. This Fashionista pairs a bold pink lipstick with an overall subtle look. In fact, this is what I specifically love about this look. She starts it off with a natural brown shadow on her eyes by using Urban Decay’s Naked palette paired with a few coats of Dior’s mascara. With her bangs swept to the side and hair tucked behind the ear, we get the full effect of her use of a light contour and a touch of highlight on her cheekbones. She finishes off the look with perfect pop of color on her lips using Kat Von D’s everlasting liquid lipstick.

To go with this look, this Fashionista is wearing a simple but chic outfit. The look begins with a trendy patterned neck scarf that creates a transition to shift focus from her makeup to the rest of her outfit. Sticking to the darker side of the color wheel, she sports a navy top and black pants complemented by a pair of Dior’s timeless patent leather pumps. Because the rest of her outfit is simple, there is a perfect balance of the use of a bold lip color.

This spring season, I urge us to be like this Fashionista. We should all try something new to revamp our signature makeup looks, whether it be by adding a pop of color with a colorful lipstick, trying a new vibrant eye shadow, or using a highlighter for that extra glow.
