BEAUTY BAR: The ABC’s to Alluring Balayage Curls

As a receptionist at a hair salon in Miami, I’m always paying close attention to the hottest hair trends for the season. Currently, we keep booking appointments left and right for balayages. Balayage is a hand painted technique that sweeps the surface of your hair, leaving a natural sun-kissed color. A-listers such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Lauren Conrad have been spotted rocking the look.

On my quest throughout campus, I spotted a Fashionista with the perfect, golden balayage curls. Her hair routine consists of five simple steps. In the city of Miami, we face humidity on a daily basis, meaning any tips on how we can control frizziness are always welcomed. This Fashionista says she loves this particular look because, “it’s transitional and can easily transform into a night look from a day look.” For her outfit, she kept it light and dainty with a staple white sleeveless blouse, a pair of high-waisted black jeans and, to complete the look, comfy sandals.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: First things first, and that’s finding a master colorist in your area that is experienced with the Balayage technique. Now, to achieve voluminous curls you must start by applying a quarter size amount of Moroccan Oil Volumizing Mousse onto hair. Once you have spread out the mousse evenly, you may now blow-dry hair to your liking. Next, section hair into separate quadrants. Use the curling iron in high heat. Wrap the strands of hair around curling iron for about five to eight seconds depending on the thickness. Brush curls out with your fingers. Then proceed to use the Label M Sea Salt Spray. The sea salt spray gives you a beachy bed head look, great for any occasion.
