BEAUTY BAR: Smoky Eye Sophistication

It’s one of the most popular and edgy looks for college students and undeniably advanced in the makeup department; it’s the smoky eye. The ever fierce smoky eye, paired with the perfect shade of matte lipstick is not only eye-catching (literally), but incredibly chic. It’s the ‘Va Va Voom’ of makeup trends. There are many reasons why this trend works; however, I’m going to focus on how it completes any look because of its versatility and boldness.

While many people might think of a smoky eye as a striking evening look, they forget that this trend is versatile. As demonstrated above, this Fashionista’s simple and cool outfit is pulled together by her stand-out makeup choices that give her look a “wow” factor. Day or night, accenting your look with these bold, or light, shades gives you the extra OOMF for any occasion.

With that being said, pairing a smoky eye with a matte nude lip gives you a soft and sophisticated look, compared to a matte red lip that has a more fun and sexy feel. Versatility is key, Fashionistas. Mixing and matching shades allows you to make the trend your own by going for whatever look you want. Now that we have established why this trend is so fabulous, we need to discuss how you can you get the look.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Have no fear, makeup enthusiasts. All the makeup you see in these shots are products used by college girls everywhere and can all be purchased at Sephora or Ulta. For starters, the Naked Smoky Palette was used to create the smoky eye and was paired up with a Stila black eyeliner to bring in the full effect. This eyeshadow will pair perfectly with your favorite mascara, whether it’s COVERGIRL or Maybelline. Using a L’Oréal matte foundation gave this Fashionista a smooth base that blended with a complementary NARS blush. Lastly, she tied it all together with a gorgeous shade of Kat Von D lipstick. The overall look? Flawless.
