BEAUTY BAR: Rainbow Brites

It seems like bright, non-natural colored hair is everywhere these days. This trend began on the fringes of society, celebrities and Fashionistas/os everywhere adopting this style to spice up their looks. While the upkeep can be high and there is often a fair amount of commitment involved in dying your hair, especially if your hair isn’t naturally blonde, it’s a dramatic style that makes a statement instantly and allows you to make every look your own.

There are many different ways to incorporate this trend into your own hair. One popular style, worn by celebrities such as Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora, is the dip dye. This style has especially been popular in the summer and is lower maintenance and less of a dramatic change than an all-over color change. However, if you’re looking for a more dramatic style change, you can follow in the footsteps of Hillary Duff, Kesha and Demi Lovato and dye your whole head a new and fun color. And, if you can’t decide how much you’d like to dye or are nervous about the commitment, you can model your look after Lauren Conrad or Avril Lavigne and incorporate subtle streaks of color into your hair for a pop of color on a more minimal level.

This Fashionista goes for a more dramatic look, incorporating not just one color into her hair, but a whole rainbow! The uniqueness of her hair instantly sets her apart from the crowd and allows her to weave her personality into all of her outfits. On this occasion, she even matched her clothes with her hair, donning a brightly colored striped dress and Converse with multicolored laces. Her colorful ensemble stood out against the general monotony of internship attire and revealed her unique personality right away.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? Consider leaving the dye job to a professional, but it can be done at home. If you have dark hair, make sure to bleach the parts you’d like to dye first in order to get the brightest colors from the dye. Next, pick a bright hair dye in the color of your choice. Make sure to follow the directions on the box carefully to avoid doing any damage to your hair! If you’re still nervous about the permanence of a dye job, consider getting clip in color strips to add color when you want!
