BEAUTY BAR: Pretty In Pink

June 17th, 2015 at 2:05am

As the seasons transition, so should your choice in makeup. The summer heat invites you to embrace the outdoors, which unfortunately comes with a price to pay—in the form of sweat. You’ll soon come to realize that a full face of makeup paired with a long day in the sun will quickly turn into a scene from the Wizard of Oz as you drop to your knees and cry “I’m melting! Melting!”.

Maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but one thing is for sure: sweat and makeup are repelling magnets. One way to steer clear of this mess is by substituting heavy makeup products for lightweight alternatives. This will essentially provide the desired coverage while also letting the skin breathe through rapid waves of heat and humidity.

This Fashionista exemplifies a perfect makeup combination for the occasion. Just a touch of nude eyeshadows and mascara completes the look on the eyes and accentuates the focus on her fuchsia lips, which is what initially caught my attention. Bright lips have become a popular trend among numerous beauty experts and celebrities to ring in the summer season. Something as simple as pigment on the lips can alter a natural look to a fun and flirty twist. For a flawless finish, she applied a BB cream, also known as a tinted moisturizer, to cover any minor blemishes on the skin.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: This look is very simple to replicate. Urban Decay’s Naked Basics eyeshadow palette will assist you on creating a natural and bright appearance on the eyes. For the lips, there is an array of colors you can choose from, but MAC’s Mineralize Rich lipstick in the shade of Boutique Pink will closely resemble the one pictured above. This particular lipstick formula will also aid any dryness to assure you hydrated lips throughout the day. As for facial coverage, ditch the heavy foundations and exchange it for a tinted moisturizer with SPF. I recommend Diorskin Nude BB cream, which was recently rated by Vogue as one of the top 10 BB creams of the year.
