“Never underestimate the power of dramatic lips.”-Laura Mercier

I love makeup! I love the feel of a new lipstick. I love the swipe of a brush on a new makeup palette. Honestly, when used right, makeup is the next best accessory. Think about it; sometimes it is difficult to find an outfit that sets you apart from the other Fashionista/os of the world. Many clothing stores provide the same arrangement of items leaving us all to wonder how we can possibly make it our own. So what’s the answer to spicing up your outfit and standing out from the rest? Makeup. With a steady hand, makeup can turn a plain outfit into a dramatic masterpiece.

With fall right around the corner, now is the perfect time to experiment with bold makeup colors. I love a bold lip color, but sometimes it is hard to find the perfect one. Dark lips are my favorite for the fall season. I even love the black lipstick trend, but that can be kind of hard to pull off. I know black lipstick sounds scary. You are probably picturing ’90s grunge in all its messy glory, so if that sounds too intimidating you can try black cherry lipstick. With black cherry, you get black with red undertones so it’s not as harsh on the skin.

For this look, I paired distressed boyfriend jeans with a purple T-shirt, a green anorak jacket and black Converse sneakers. I also kept my accessories to a minimum with gold stacked rings, small gold hoop earrings and a chain link bracelet. I wanted the outfit to be simple since the lips are the stand out accessory. Since the weather is still a little warm, I chose a crème lipstick for my lips so it wouldn’t look too harsh. Since black cherry lipstick is so bold, I made sure the rest of my makeup was simple and toned down with only a hint of golden eyeshadow and mascara.

Looking for the perfect bold lip color? To recreate this bold makeup look, pick up a crème black cherry lipstick for warmer weather, and in the colder months try a matte lipstick. Be sure to keep the rest of your makeup simple. Only play up one facial feature at a time!
