BEAUTY BAR: Our Lips Are Sealed

Well, the groundhog must have been wrong this year. The snow has been falling for the past week and spring feels like a distant dream. Instead of sleeping in your room until the sun decides to grace us with its presence or bundling up to the point that you are no longer recognizable, show the world the Fashionista/o you truly are!

A great way to accent any look (and one that still allows you to wear your giant winter coat) is with lipstick! Recent lip trends have aligned with the more adventurous of heart, but if that is not your speed, neutral is still a good way to go! This Fashionista pairs multiple lip colors, ranging from a purply wine to classic red to a more neutral pink with her look.

The key to successfully styling multiple lip shades with an outfit, is to keep the outfit fairly neutral. A simple guide to live by is as follows: the more dramatic the lip, the more neutral the outfit. This Fashionista kept her outfit neutral by pairing a cream long sleeve top with blue denim jeans and brown wedges. She added a touch of edge with the rips in her knees and sparkle with her accessories, including a watch, bracelets and a necklace.

As Bette Midler said, “Give a woman the right lipstick and she can rule the world.”

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Clearly, the star of this look is the lipstick. Experiment with shades to find the color that best suits you! This Fashionista featured classic red and faded pink colors from NARS, a wine color from Maybelline and a dusty pink from Make Up For Ever. As for the rest of the look, she kept the rest of her face natural to place emphasis on her lips. You can add more drama on the eyes to take this look from day to night.
