BEAUTY BAR: Orange You Chic

One of my favorite things about the seasons changing is the opportunity to change up my makeup routine and experiment with new beauty products. I have always tackled the fall and the winter seasons with dark lips and the occasional smokey eye. During the spring, I usually opt for a dewy foundation and a new shade of cream blush. The summer, however, has always been a challenging season for me in the world of makeup. First off, I am apprehensive when it comes to swapping out my neutral tones for funky colored lipstick or eyeliner. Second, it’s often hard for me to justify putting on makeup in the first place, when the inevitable swimming trip or sweaty adventure is right around the corner. For these two reasons, I am always on the lookout for a minimalistic, yet still bold, summer makeup look.

This Fashionista has achieved the perfect look for summer! Her makeup is super simplistic, requiring only three key components. She uses only black eyeliner, mascara and an orange lipstick. Her bold orange lip is what truly makes the look stand out!

Orange lipstick is quickly catching on among celebrities. Kendall Jenner wore an orange lip this past May to the Estée Edit by Estée Lauder in London. Similar to this Fashionista, Kendall paired her bright lip with a bare face and understated eyes. At the 2016 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, Riley Keough showed off an orange lip to spice up her classic chignon. I’m predicting the orange lip is going to be a huge trend this summer!

Complementing her chic makeup, this Fashionista wore a floral dress and nude heels. While I might be tempted to pair her bold lip with a more basic dress, her orange lip pairs perfectly with the bright flowers on her dress. The round sunglasses complete the look and will definitely be necessary under the summer sun.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To recreate this trendy summer makeup look, leave your face bare (with the exception of sunscreen, of course) and focus on your lips and eyes. Use liquid black eyeliner to create a quick wing on your eyelid and finish off your eyes with your favorite black mascara. Last but not least, apply a matte orange lipstick to create a fun summer vibe!
