BEAUTY BAR: Mouth Off

If we’ve all learned one thing from summertime heat, it’s that it doesn’t blend well with makeup. Smearing on foundation and concealer, slathering on lipstick and swiping on clumps of mascara set anyone up for a cosmetic disaster once out under the sun. But some Fashionistas and Fashionistos have the hair and makeup routine down for summer, and know multitudes of trustworthy products that will have your back through the most sweltering of temperatures. The key to summer beauty is avoiding a cakey, heavy result and achieving a light and airy feeling. With last fall’s bold lip still sticking around, many have continued to wear it up into the summer months. Chic buns and sky-high top knots have also came and stayed as trends on the runway and street.

This Fashionista coordinated several trends all at the same time. Her minimalist, white frock and matching white wedges were a stylish choice for a busy day. Beauty-wise her bold eyebrows, shimmery plum lipstick and effortless bun gave her a summery vibe. She completely embodied the idea of flawless summer makeup and proved that a stunning appearance doesn’t take nearly as much effort as it looks. By attaining a bold (but not too bold) lip and keeping the eyes minimal, she accentuated her lips as well as her eyebrows to create an impeccable finish. Eyebrows and lips have been under the spotlight for quite sometime now, and highlighting these features is found in nearly every runway show. This Fashionista took a beauty trend and made it her own with the help of some fabulous summertime beauty finds.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To recreate this lovely summertime look, a plum shade of lipstick, such as this Fashionista’s favorite (Plum Dandy by MAC), is essential. A good brow pencil or gel such as this one by Stila or this one by Benefit, will give you a bold set of eyebrows. Be sure to keep eye shadow and foundation minimal if you can and stick to airy, light ones. This Covergirl foundation is great for summer and so is this waterproof MAC powder. Stick to lighter formulas like silicone-based ones in order to have melt-proof makeup.
