BEAUTY BAR: Mauve-lous

I know time and time again you’ve heard that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and I beg to differ. Sure, diamonds will make you look Marilyn Monroe-classy but one problem: They will make a college girl go broke! I believe the best alternative to diamonds is lipstick. A simple touch of lipstick can lift your spirits, brighten your face and leave enough cash for Ramen Noodles—just kidding!

Thanks to Kylie Jenner’s lipstick duo reveal, a mauve pout is the new eyebrow craze. Her favorite duo is MACs lip liner in whirl and lipstick in brave. Now textbook claims, mauve is a pale purple, but to my naked eye, it appears to be dusty rose. With the perfect shade of mauve, you can enhance your natural lip color and potentially the size of your pout.

My eyes were immediately drawn to this Fashionista’s lipstick. To be honest, I stared a minute too long in awe (talk about awkward). She is wearing Sephora’s affordable cream lip stain in shade number 13. She raved how it feels like butter on your lips minus the grease. Which is the complete opposite with other matte lipsticks; oh the horror of dry and chapped lips. SOLD, The richness of this dusty rose pink is at the top of my “must purchase” list. Her mauve-lous lipstick and chunky, pink scarf add the perfect hint of femininity to her laid back attire. She’s wearing basic pieces in neutral colors that complement each other fairly well. I am a huge fan of a beige coat worn on top of a denim button-up shirt, just o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d! Well Fashionistas, I hope you enjoyed this look as much as I did and try out the latest craze: mauve lipstick. Trust me, this gorgeous color will suit any skin tone perfectly!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this look, use a mauve lip cream or stain that dries matte. Grab a Q-tip to swipe around the outline of your lips, this will create a clean application line. You can keep the rest of your make-up simple to let your mauve lips stand out!
