BEAUTY BAR: Let’s Get Naked

What is dramatic, sophisticated and works with every outfit? No I’m not talking about your amazing Victoria’s Secret bra, I am talking about a smokey eye. The smokey eye is something that many struggle with and watch tutorial after tutorial for, but when it is finally achieved, it is one of the best things you can do for your face.

Today, there are several palettes that are sold with a variation of colors for every skin tone and for every type of look in mind. Adapting what works for you is what takes time though. To achieve a great smokey eye, you only really need four colors. This Fashionista used the Urban Decay Naked palette. She started with a light shimmer shade (Sidecar) for her eyelid and went deeper in color for the midsection of the eye and the crease (Buck and Creep). Blending is always key with a smokey eye, so a brush that allows this is a necessity. After the shimmer shade, and two different variations of brown, a highlight (Virgin) is added to the inside corners of the eye and the brow bone. Never forget to add eyeliner and mascara to top off a smokey eye look!

A smokey eye can be worn every day, but one must do so according to the event they are attending. If it is an evening event, you can go darker with the smokey eye using more grays and blacks. For daytime events, one should opt for using more neutral colors. This Fashionista made her daytime smokey eye look a little on the darker side because of her skin tone, so she could easily transition into a nighttime look without changing her makeup!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? For this look, you will need the Urban Decay Naked palette, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, a deep pink-colored blush and a natural lip color.
