BEAUTY BAR: Less is More

Summer weather drives Fashionistas like ourselves absolutely insane. With the intense heat combined with the humidity and dew point, looking good seems like almost an impossible feat. It is difficult to get our look to stay put for an hour, let alone for an entire day. That being said, what a lot of people fail to understand is that the summer weather is a perfect opportunity to embrace natural beauty and use it to your advantage.

This Fashionista is both dressed and primped for a successful day in the summer sun. For starters, she decided to wear her hair down and not apply any heat tools to it such as a curling iron or straightener. Newsflash: in intense heat, straightened or curled hair most likely will not hold as well as you wish and attempting to use such utensils will just end up wasting half of your morning. Luckily for this Fashionista, her natural curls are defined and lay nicely. If you are unsure about sporting your natural hair, wash it the night before and let it dry. Then, before bed, twist it until you reach the very tip and then curl it into a bun. The next morning it will look flawless with some hairspray, pinky promise! This summer is all about having the “beachy hair” look.

As for makeup, this Fashionista applied products minimally and only to where she felt it was needed. Although wearing only a small amount of makeup may seem a bit nerve-wracking and potentially make you feel self-conscience, just know that (among many other benefits) it doesn’t clog your pores as much as wearing a normal amount of makeup would. Also, you won’t be sweating off any products in the sun, which, may I add, is less than desirable.

Our Fashionista chose to wear liquid liner along with a light coat of mascara on top of her natural-looking foundation choice. Her eye shadow colors are nude/beige. Her look is tasteful and simple. Take some notes, Fashionistas.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? When going out in the sun, it is absolutely necessary that you wear foundation with infused SPF. Always take precaution when being exposed to the sun. Also, I highly recommend my absolute favorite mascara that can be found at any Ulta or Sephora near you! Aside from the necessities, if you find your skin getting dried out by the sun, try a tinted moisturizer to replenish your skin while giving it an extra boost to glow!
