Although I love the extra vitamin D and temperatures that come with summer, when the forecast calls for high humidity, I find myself ready to head straight back to bed. But can you really blame me? It’s hard to embrace the day ahead when your hair frizzes up worse than a young Hermione Granger during her first year at Hogwarts. While taming the beast that is my hair which can, at times, be a challenge of magical proportions, I’ve learned the best way for us muggles to manage the frizz is to knot it up.

Her naturally wavy hair gives her up do an effortless feel that compliments the artsy look of the oversized jean jacket and T-shirt dress. Leaving two strands out of the knot allowed her hair to frame her face; a great opportunity to play up makeup to make those eyes pop. It’s the perfect on the go look that takes on the humidity while looking great—no magic spell necessary!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To put the cherry (or knot) on top of this look, you’ll need two elastic hair ties and some bobby pins. It helps to put your hair in a high pony tail first and then twist your hair into a bun from there. You can add your own personal touch to this do by adjusting the tightness or position of the knot on your head. For a sleeker look, use a brush and hair spray to tighten up the loose pieces or keep things relaxed by leaving pieces out and loosening the knot.
