BEAUTY BAR: Hold Your Hair Up

Summertime has its pits and peaks for beauty. Some awesome peaks are swimwear, shorts, tank tops and flip flops! There is only one pit for the summer, but it’s a big one—the summer heat! Everyone sweats 10 times more than usual which results in melting makeup and hair sticking to your neck and face. Makeup wise, everyone can beat the heat with BB cream and natural makeup, but hair is a whole other story. People get so annoyed with their frizz and sweat soaked hair that they usually throw it up in a sloppy ponytail and call it a day. Living in Texas, I definitely know this problem firsthand and have participated in doing this beauty don’t. Not for this Fashionista!

Working both inside and outside, this Fashionista has to find a way to deal with the Texas heat while looking on point. How you might ask? The French braid, why of course! She is able to keep her hair out of the way while still managing to look super cute. Her hair is pretty long—it almost reaches the middle of her back—so this is the perfect solution to keep it out of the way. I was literally on my way to work, long hair down and all, when I noticed her hairstyle and thought to myself, “Man, why didn’t I think of that? She looks like the heat doesn’t bother her at all!” This look has now inspired me to start looking up tutorials on YouTube to finally learn how to do it myself. According to this Fashionista, after you achieve this braid once, its smooth sailing from there.

She kept the rest of her beauty look natural with minimal makeup. To add more style to her outfit and to match her headband, she opted for a unique pair of patterned denim shorts. She told me that she found them on sale at Plato’s Closet. I know where I’m shopping during my next spree!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To complete this beauty look, all you need is a French braid, patterned headband and minimal makeup to show your beautiful face to the world. To make your headband look cohesive with your overall look, pick a color from your outfit to match it with, but play it up with a cool pattern. Skull shorts and a stripped headband—brilliant.
