BEAUTY BAR: Gone Fishing

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! This week is all about the hair and a stylish way to keep it up off your neck on those super hot days this summer. Fishtail braids are super easy to do for all hair types. You can use them with pretty much any style of clothing but the best pairing is with a boho-chic outfit. The fishtail braid is whimsical and does not have to be polished which is great for the Fashionistas on the go!

This Fashionista had a great dress to wear a fishtail with. The dress is a really light weight dress which makes it perfect for a summer day spent outside. Her nose ring is the perfect amount of unique flare and the sandals are simple making the dress easy to focus on. The detailing on the dress gives it that boho-chic vibe that makes the fishtail braid perfect for tying the whole outfit together! You don’t need to wear a fishtail in the traditional way but you can make it a french braid or even french braid your bangs in a fishtail to stick with the boho-chic look in a unique way. This Fashionista is ready to take on the day whatever it may bring without breaking a sweat!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To achieve this look you’ll need a hair tie and some styling wax or putty. Split your hair into two even sections, unlike a regular braid you only need to sections. Use your finger to separate a small section of your hair from the outer edge near the elastic and cross it over to the opposite side (overlapping just like you would if you were doing a standard braid). Re-grip your hair to tighten the middle, still holding two sections. Repeat with a small section from the other side. Repeat this process until your braid is done. Finish it off with the hair tie, then take some styling wax in your hair and loosen the braid up a little to create an effortless feel!
