BEAUTY BAR: Golden Gal

Ah summer, the 3 months out of the year when you can always find blotting papers, frizz serum and an SPF ChapStick in my purse. Okay, so fashion and beauty can be a little trickier when the heat kicks in. What I love most about this time of year is being able to wear less: less clothing and less makeup. The saying, “less is more” never fails to prove itself in real life circumstances. This LA Fashionista here portrays exactly what I’m talking about, showing off her summer glow in the softest way.

One of the biggest dilemmas we face during this season is the summer heat melting off our makeup. The last thing you want is to look sweaty, all because you didn’t choose a fitting foundation. This is the time to let your skin breathe! Avoid heavy liquid, and opt for a light powder or weightless foundation. This Fashionista wore Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation with light coverage. The silk finish perfects her natural beauty, while the luminosity of the product adds just the right amount of highlight.

Next, before you decide to soak up some sun for a couple hours, consider achieving the same sun-kissed glow with a luminous bronzer. Apply the bronzer of your choice over the apples of your cheeks and across the bridge of your nose and temples to mimic a flawless face tan. This Fashionista combined two bronzers together with a slight shimmer and peachy, pink undertones. Additionally, she swept an Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit highlight to her cheek bones in the shade, Bubbly, for more of a “pearlescent” finish. The best way to apply highlighter is with a fan brush. These enable you to create a softer look using the relaxed flat shape of the bristles.

When it comes to eye shadow, bronze and golden tones are quite popular for summer. Gold shadow is very versatile, but keep in mind the shades that work well with your eye color. This Fashionista used a mix of muted golden brown, peachy brown and copper shimmer, enhancing the green in her eyes. I love how subtle the colors seem to be, yet the end result is glamorous.

She rocks a warm pigment on her lips by using Kylie Jenner’s Dolce K lip liner and a matte nude lipstick. She then added classic black liquid eyeliner, voluminous mascara for long lashes and touched up her brows. Nothing takes your look up a notch like a defined brow, am I right ladies?

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Keep your eye out for a light foundation, a shimmery bronzer and a warm lip liner. Voila! A few simple steps to recreating this subtle, yet radiant summer look.
