BEAUTY BAR: Falling For Witchy Make-Up

Fall is officially upon us, Fashionista/os, and as sorry I am to see summer go, I am thrilled to finally be in the best season of the year. Gone are high temperatures and bad hair days—yeah, you know, the ones where the makeup just sweats right off? I’d rather not. Luckily, we can at last breathe (and wear a full face) again!

This month’s Fashionista is not wasting any time in embracing fall’s cooler temperatures. Her makeup is on-point with her dark lip, winged liner and bold brows. The dark lip gloss has a purple hue, perfect for making any fall look a little vampier. It complements her fair skin tone, and looks awesome against her dark hair. Ranging from nude lips to the intense lip liner craze of the ’90s, I think it is safe to say we have finally found a happy medium. Dark lips work, but only when done right, just as this Fashionista has done here.

The key to rocking witchy lips is to not go crazy with it. If you pick dark lips, you really have to commit. The rest of your beauty look has to be complete, but let the lips do all the talking. Her winged eyeliner is simple and ultra-chic: perfect for drawing attention to the eyes without going over the top. She wears Urban Decay eyeshadow in neutral hues, which subtly pull her whole makeup look together.

Now let’s talk about those brows. This beauty craze has girls everywhere green with envy over the full arches of Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins, all vying for the end-all compliment that is #OnFleek. Because her hair is so dark, this Fashionista’s brows are going to stand out against her fair skin regardless. She, being aware of this, harnesses the power of the brows to her advantage. She flawlessly shapes them using the Brow Powder Duo by Anastasia Beverly Hills—talk about gorgeous.

Although her beauty look is what you first notice, it is clear that her outfit falls anything but flat. She wears a neutral, casual fall ensemble complete with a pair of overall shorts, a striped top, Dr Martens boots and a canvas backpack. The shorts are perfect with a long sleeve top until the weather gets cold, but after that, she can layer on a pair of solid tights to carry the look through the season.  Every piece of her outfit is on the same page color-wise, and allows her stand-out beauty to really shine.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: ’Tis the season for witchy lips, so why not give them a try? Head to a drugstore near you to find your dream color and finish. This Fashionista is wearing NYX Intense Butter Gloss in “Black Cherry Tart.” If you decide to wear gloss, don’t forget to apply foundation on your lips before the gloss to prevent bleeding. Keep the rest of your makeup neutral as to not overwhelm your lip color, throw on a rockin’ outfit and you’re good to go!
