BEAUTY BAR: Fading Away

Another Kentucky Derby has come and gone, and another favorite won. Along with the winning Nyquist, there were tons of Fashionistas/os with winning style. Whether it was with a derby hat, sweet hair, unique articles of clothing or a classic look, this Derby was one to remember.

Our Fashionisto pulled off one of the most classic hair trends for men: the fade. This haircut began in the 1950s as a requirement for men enlisting in the military and has turned into a popular style for today’s generation. It is a very tricky task to get the perfect fade—our Fashionisto explains that he has been going to the same barber for a little over a year now to get his flawless cut. To keep his hair in place, he uses a strong hold Moonshine Whiskey Wax. Our Fashionisto maintains the perfect amount of scruff to complement his tasteful hairstyle.

This Fashionisto only adds to his trendy haircut with stylish Derby attire. He couples a classic, white button-up with slim, gray dress pants. He adds his own unique touch with a pair of black Vans. The ensemble is topped off with a chic turquoise and silver bow tie, adding a crisp finish with the perfect spring colors. Last but not least he adds Oakley Frogskins to accessorize his outfit.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this look, you simply need to take a visit to the barber. Although, considering this is a difficult haircut, I recommend going to one that has experience with this particular style. Don’t forget, there are multiple variations of the fade so pick the one that suits you!
