BEAUTY BAR: Brown-Eyed Beauty

Contouring has become one of the biggest trends in beauty, taking sculpting and refining facial features to a whole new advanced level. Another huge trend in make up is winged eyeliner, or “cat eyes,” to give the eyes a flirty, yet mysterious look. I found this brown-eyed beauty during an event I was working at the Erickson Alumni Center on campus, and she just happened to be sporting both trends!

For this look, this Fashionista chose neutral tones in her eye shadow to complement her sandy dress. She also chose to do a very slight cat eye on her eyelid to look fresh and flirty, while also staying away from overwhelming her face with harsh black eyeliner. She mentioned to me that she lines the bottom part of her eye with a nude or white color to make her eyes look wider and brighter on days when her coffee just isn’t cutting it. She tops it all off with two coats of mascara for full, lengthy lashes that are sure to impress.

As for contouring, this Fashionista is the queen of subtlety. She used contouring to shade some areas of her face, while she used highlighting to bring light to other areas of her face. Some typical areas of contouring are the jawline, cheekbones and temples, while typical areas for highlighting are under the eyes, center of the forehead, chin and just beneath the brow bone. Needless to say, this Fashionista has truly made an art out of doing make up!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? This natural look is easy to obtain. All you’ll need is your choice of primer and then start with Make Up For Ever: Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation/L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation to even out your skin tone, and fight the shine that comes summer heat. Next, you’ll need your choice of concealer and the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette to highlight under the eyes and forehead, and contour the jawline and temples. After that, you’ll want to apply eye shadow from the Morphe 35 Color Taupe Palette, eye liner and mascara. To top it all off, add this Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter with a nude pink lip for a little pop of color and a perfect, sun-kissed summer glow.
