BEAUTY BAR: Braid-ception

With the final Hunger Games movie out in theaters, Katniss Everdeen and her perfect braids are everywhere. She has been our ultimate braid idol since the first movie and now that the series is coming to a close, this is your last opportunity to steal her look. Whichever way you to decide to rock a braid, you will be sure to turn heads just like the Mockingjay herself.

This Fashionista channeled her inner Katniss proving you should too! Not only did she pull off a double braid, she paired it with an outfit that would definitely be Katniss-approved. She is wearing a tan jacket equipped with leather sleeves, leather boots to match and added a maroon scarf for some color. This is the perfect cold weather outfit that also complements her braided hairstyle.

Since the most important part of this Fashionista’s look is her fabulous hair, I did my research on how to get the perfect braid. The best part is that braided hairstyles work best with dirty hair. Yes, you read that right! We all know how much we love to skip washing our hair (especially with finals coming up) and now we actually have an excuse to. However if you just washed your hair or it just doesn’t have enough texture, work some dry shampoo into your roots. Then, the next step is to divide your hair into sections and that all depends on which braid you’re going for. Are you like me and not a hair expert? Just type ‘braid’ into Pinterest and a million step by step tutorials will pop up. Trust me, if I can figure out how to follow them so can you!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To get the hairstyle featured above, braid the front section of your hair while incorporating more pieces only on the side close to your face. It is basically like doing a french braid but on only one side. Next, secure this braid with two bobby pins and cross them like an “X” to ensure they don’t fall out. Finish up the look by simply braiding all the hair to one side and tie it with a clear elastic. Yes, it is that easy! Good luck and let the hair odds be ever in your favor.
