BEAUTY BAR: Boxer Braids

Hello, Fashionistas! I’m happy to be writing about a popular beauty trend—boxer braids. I’ve been seeing them everywhere this season, and expect to see them more this summer. It’s becoming obvious that 2016 is the year of the braid; from festival season to sporting events to Beyoncé’s “Formation” video, they’re all over the place, and prove to be just as chic as they are utilitarian. I’ve always been a huge supporter of two French braids, and ever since Kim Kardashian posted a couple pictures rocking this hairstyle, everyone seems to be boarding the braid train. It makes sense, as boxer braids look stunning with any hair length, color, and type. Considering trying it out? Take a look at this Fashionista for some tips!

Not only do her boxer braids offer a convenient way to pull her hair back, but they also add an edgy touch to her overall look. Boxer braids are two French or Dutch braids and can be done tight or loose. Honestly, you can’t go wrong wearing this hairstyle with any ensemble you choose, but I personally really like to do boxer braids when I’m working out or running errands in a laid back spring outfit. This Fashionista pulls off the boxer braids with jean shorts, a solid top, a light kimono and black sandals.

Gladiator sandals are no longer a trend, but more of a staple for warm weather dressing. Whether they are classic lace-ups or stiletto knee-high sandals, there’s a style out there for everyone. I really love how this Fashionista chose to stick with a black and white color scheme, and by pulling her hair back, you can notice more details in her outfit.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To test this look, you simply need two hair ties, a light kimono, a pair of jean shorts, a solid tank top and a pair of gladiator sandals. Since boxer braids are a more relaxed hairstyle, I recommend keeping makeup soft and natural.
