BEAUTY BAR: Beachy Keen

Even though I have short hair, I have many friends with longer hair that struggle in the morning to find enough time to spend on their hair after hitting the snooze so many times. I even struggle to find the time to do my hair that doesn’t pass my shoulders, so it ends up being thrown into some messy half hearted bun. To add to all the stress that hair causes, there’s humidity. And if you don’t live in the midwest or maybe Florida you don’t understand its wrath.

Summer weather calls for summer hair, some kind of do that will pull your hair out of your face and away from your neck. We are all searching for that perfect do that will save us time in the morning yet still turn heads during the day. This Fashionista has perfected it with her effortless fishtail braid that goes perfectly with her laid back look.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? Recreating this look will be easy for you long haired lucky ones! For any summer look the first place to start is with a little sea salt spray, I’ve had great luck with Bumble and bumble Surf Spray. Usually with a look such as this it is ideal to have second day hair, which saves you enough time to get that latte you’re craving in the morning. But don’t fret! If you prefer to start the day with clean hair I suggest the Surf shampoo and conditioner from Bumble and bumble as well. You can usually find these in a travel size three pack if you don’t want to make the commitment to all three full size bottles. The next step would be to braid. If you aren’t familiar with the fish tail style of braid many tutorials can be found on the wondrous YouTube! After that, it is up to you if you want a neater braid or you can choose to loosen and pull out a few strands on the way to make your do a little edgier. This is also the perfect way to get those beach waves we all lust after. For those after braiding, take a flat iron and go over your braid a few times. And voila! You have your effortless waves. You’ll have people wondering where the beach is, even if you’re stuck in Missouri.
