BEAUTY BAR: Balayage Babe

March 23rd, 2016 at 2:00am

This trend encourages you to grow out your roots, wash your hair less, toss out the brush and skip the blow dry. WINNING!

Although balayage sounds quite posh, the look it denotes is that of the more carefree variety. It’s actually a simple technique of painting dye on to random sections of the hair, rather than the typical glopping on of color. With summer around the corner and winter out the door, everyone’s focused on the easiest way to transform into a mega beach babe. The way I see it, this whole balayage trend is your one-way ticket to saying to yourself, “I try hard, but I don’t try that hard. I also wear a bikini all the time!”

This Fashionista styles the whole beachy balayage look perfectly and effortlessly. The loose sheer long sleeve tied up in a knot provides a relaxed, yet sleek vibe to the ensemble. Paired with chic neutral wedges, the denim mini skirt provides a fresh, slightly offbeat, girl-next-door look that I’m forecasting to be big this summer. A little Full House, maybe, but very Australian-chic as well! Pro tip: style the balayage with loose waves. The quickest and simplest way to get loose waves is by using a 1.5 inch curling iron and finger-combing the waves after they have cooled. Also, please do not be afraid to tease those locks. It’ll be worth it.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To enhance the balayage try some texture added to wavy hair. If you’re going for summer vibes, a tan will finish off the look. Volume and a good hair stylist won’t hurt either.
