BEAUTY BAR: Baby Bangs

With fall rolling in, it is prime time to let loose with the new fall hair trends. I’ve already seen an abundance of people rocking the newest hair trends on campus—everything from bayalage to bohemian braids to bronde hair. While autumn is the optimal time to explore new shades for your tresses, it is also an ideal time to experiment with different cuts and styles.

One of my favorite ways of diversifying one’s hairstyle is with bangs. Bangs can be styled in a million different ways, they can liven up any haircut and they can even change the shape of your face. We’re all familiar with the straight-across bangs, frequently donned by Zooey Deschanel or Emma Stone’s ever popular side-swept bangs. However, there is one style that is definitely overlooked and underrated: the baby bangs.

Originally perfected by Audrey Hepburn, baby bangs are the ideal way to frame your face without having excessively long fringe blocking your vision. This Fashionista opted for baby bangs to complete her fall fashion beauty aesthetic. They perfectly complement her subtle ombre locks and keep her ‘do looking polished at all times. Furthermore, she never has to deal with her hair being in her face!

This Fashionista completes her class-ready look with a blush pink chiffon top, medium wash jeans and black Tory Burch flats. Like any Fashionista, she knows that accessories are a must! Topping off the look, we have a tortoiseshell brown watch and the always classy Alex and Ani bracelets. Similar to baby bangs, this ensemble can easily be taken from day wear to night wear!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Baby bangs may sometimes require a little bit of hairspray in order to look completely polished. To keep them looking fresh, get them trimmed about every four weeks. Although baby bangs are usually pretty easy to tame if you have straight hair, they can be a little bit trickier to style on different hair types. Consider using a straightener to smooth them out!
