BEAUTY BAR: ’90s Kids Give Hair-Color Envy

I strongly believe people born in the ’90s are a proud generation. We are very outspoken about the pop culture from our childhood. Without the decade, the world would never know of the greatness of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Marc Jacobs might still be working for Perry Ellis—as if!

When I think of the time period, one of the songs that comes to my mind is Eiffel 65’s “I’m Blue,” “I’m blue DA BA DE DA BA DI DA BA DE DA BA DI.”

This Fashionista gets it. She is able to rock her blue hair color because of her outgoing personality. She dyed her hair because she wanted a different experience. Her style is based on her mood. Whatever she wants to wear, she will wear it.

Color is an important feature regarding this Fashionista’s look. You want your outfit to complement your hair color. Her red and blue shawl helps bring out her long, blue locks. Also, the color of her pants and hair are jewel-toned; this element brings an overall cohesiveness to her look.

Her black booties and crop top complete her look and keep it from being too overpowering.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: This Fashionista goes to a salon for her hair fix. She uses Redken’s Chromatics, a salon brand; however, you can dye your hair at home if that is the best choice for you. Try a temporary hair color first before you use a permanent. The hair dye will come out more easily if you do not like it. Also, don’t forget about other beauty needs. You don’t want to walk out of your dorm and have someone pull a Cher Horowitz saying: “no, she’s a full-on Monet…from far away, it’s OK, but up close, it’s a big old mess.” This Fashionista also cares about her makeup and nails. For eye makeup, she chose a winged-eyeliner. Try STILA eyelinerl it is easy to control and great for making precise lines. Her nails are a simple shade of black with a glittery gold accent nail on each hand. This adds fun without getting too carried away. It doesn’t matter if you are a ’90s kid or a flower child, anyone can rock a bold hair color. The key is paying attention to style choices and knowing what works best for you.
