STYLE GURU BIO: Fiona Daghir

Greetings fellow Fashionistas/os!

My name is Fiona Daghir, and I am a freshman at Penn State University, majoring in broadcast journalism. My hometown is in the heart of rural central Pennsylvania, a very small town by the name of Lykens. I grew up as a small town girl, but I am aspiring to a future in the entertainment news industry of television. Eventually, I would love to conduct red carpet interviews with various style icons from all around the world.

My passion for journalism and media goes hand in hand with my love for fashion. I am so excited that this internship with CollegeFashionista, which provides me with the opportunity to integrate all of my passions into one creative outlet. I can’t wait to share my inspirations found on campus this semester and be inspired by the other fabulous Gurus on the CF team!

Although my style isn’t specifically defined, I like to refer to it as generally urban-chic. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve gravitated towards anything gold, glam, and glitz. My maroon, suede, wedged booties give me some extra pep in my step across the gigantic Penn State campus. However, I still love to maintain comfort, which is why my fur coat is one of the holy-grail staples of my wardrobe for the cold, central Pennsylvania winter season.

And, of course, I can’t forget my favorite part of outfit coordination: accessorizing. One of my biggest obsessions is gold, so most of my jewelry pieces reflect this. In addition to my love for gold, I sometimes reach for other variations of trendy accessories to complete my daily ensembles, which is why I had to include my velvet choker.

Regarding color selection, I typically stick to solid neutrals. My closet is filled with tan, black, maroon, white, and olive green pieces. Although I keep my colors and patterns relatively basic, I never restrict my elements of different textures. As soon as I walk into a store, my eyes are immediately glued to anything fur, leather, suede… faux of course. This season, my favorite trending texture is velvet.

In addition to my love for fashion, I define myself as an avid social media lover, frequent R&B listener, and coffee enthusiast. In my free time, you can typically find me sitting in a café sipping a latte while scrolling through Instagram, Pinterest, or Tumblr, and probably listening to something by Drake.

To me, fashion is the most creative way to express yourself in the public eye. As the exceptional woman Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

I could not be more excited for this internship with CollegeFashionista, and the opportunity to take my passions for writing, social media, and fashion to a whole new level.
