STYLE GURU BIO: Ava Tunnicliffe

Style Guru Bio

I’m Ava, I’m a freshman at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, and I’m a soon-to-declare English major.

I grew up in London, England until I was 11 years old and I moved to New York. I love living in cities—the fast pace, the endless possibilities of places to explore and, of course, the fashion! Living in two major fashion meccas has definitely had a great influence on my style and interest in fashion. I’m constantly being inspired by my two hometowns—there is fashion everywhere!

Fashion and the way in which I choose to dress myself have been a major focuses in my life for as long as I can remember. By the age of two I was already taking agency and insisting that I dress myself in matching headbands and dresses. I am still extremely independent and unique in the way in which I choose to dress; I try not to follow too many trends all at once, and stick to my personal and defined style. I don’t really know how exactly I would describe the way I dress, but it involves a lot of black, a lot of leather and a lot of Alexander Wang. I’m rarely ever seen without my Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane Cut Outs.

As I am quite a shy person, fashion has truly become my outlet for expressing myself and making first impressions. One of the reasons why I am so excited to be a Style Guru is because of CollegeFashionista’s ability to show such a variety of people with different styles. Each and every person featured on this website is doing their own thing with their style, in some way or another, and I find that extremely fascinating. I think that a lot of personality is expressed in the way in which one chooses to dress.

I am an avid photographer, writer and reader. I am never without my Canon 7D and my Mulberry notebook, so working for CollegeFashionista only seems like the natural next step.

I am excited for you guys to join me in my new environment of dry and sunny Claremont, and away from the fast-paced city life that I have known for the past 19 years.
