Hello, College Fashionistas! My name is Waverly Johnston. I am a freshman at the University of Iowa, and I am studying journalism and marketing. I am interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry, and I can't wait to see what positions will be available to a journalism/marketing major in that field.
Up until my first year of college (this year) I have lived in the great state of Minnesota. My family and boyfriend live there as well, and I am certainly full of Minnesota pride. However, I couldn't resist traveling down to the University of Iowa for its writing programs!
In my free time (of which I have very little), I like to read/write, play piano and viola, and spend time with my family. One of my other favorite pastimes is spending hours watching Say Yes to the Dress with my closest friend!
In high school, I participated in many different clubs and activities both in the school and in my community. I am passionate about many different topics (music, athletics, writing), and I give 100% in everything I do.
I was a figure skater from third grade until the end of my high school years, and I earned my United States Figure Skating Association Gold medal for the Moves in the Field test before my junior year. At the end of my junior year, I was the third chair violist in the Minnesota All-State Orchestra. During my entire high school career, I participated in various groups of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies as a violist.
In college, I am a member of the Fashion Management Club and a handful of other clubs on campus. I hope that my dedication and hard work in these clubs will help me network with professionals in my field of interest so that I will already have connections when I enter the professional world.
Thank you for welcoming me as a blogger. I can't wait to start writing for College Fashionista!
