I have to say, it’s always comforting to see a Fashionisto walking around campus and this Fashionisto’s look certainly caught my eye. I am totally feeling the man sweaters these days and it’s just as easy and comfortable for a Fashionisto to throw on a nice sweater instead of a regular old tee. Take a hint from Style Guru Renee from University of Illinois or take a look at this CU Fashionisto from a post in January.
Hint: Try this BDG V-Neck or Blocked Stripe Cardigan sweaters from Urban. Wrap this Almafi Agency Scarf around your neck and you’ve instantly upped your style.
Keep it up Fashionistos!

Well Fashionistas/os as much as I keep hoping for spring weather to grace us with its presence, it’s an unfortunate reality that winter is here to stay for at least another six weeks. One thing I can’t complain about, however, is that we still have weeks of amazing boots to enjoy and with winter boot sales on the way at least we have fabulous shopping to look forward to.
I am totally into lace up boots right now and this Fashionista’s pair caught my eye when walking back from class last week. Oftentimes Fashionistas/os mention they get my favorite statement pieces at vintage stores so, naturally, I was expecting this Fashionista would stay the same about these boots. But, to my excitement, she picked up this amazing pair at Urban!
Hint: If you’re into her long centerpiece necklace, try this Kevia Pendant necklace or this Sculpted Heart Pendant. Like her long tee? Try this Handkerchief Hem Tunic Tank or this Criss-Cross Knit Tank from Forever.

If Princess Diana wore them, it is safe to say that Hunter Wellington boots are a trend that never go out of style. Perfect for the rain or snow, these boots are a functional accessory to spice up an ordinary outfit. They come in green as seen on the Fashionista below, as well as a variety of colors like black, gray, white, yellow, red, and blue. Take a tip from this Fashionista and wear a neutral outfit in a darker hue if you’re going to be sporting colored Hunters. If you’re going for the more traditional style, the black Hunters won’t fail you. The brand also sells leopard liners that can be folded over the top of the boot to keep your feet warm and add a little funk to the trendy yet classic look. Come rain, snow, or shine these boots are a great go-to item for comfort and function. Did I mention these boots were made for walking, too?

Lady Gaga, fashion’s latest and greatest muse, continues to inspire fans to be themselves and have fun doing it. From her music to her personal style, the Lady is never one to bore. At the 2010 Grammys, Ms. Gaga wowed in not one, but three Giorgio Armani Prive looks that were designed just for her. I’m sure that Armani brought her luck, as she took home two Grammys on Sunday evening. My favorite of the looks was her first. The bejewelled lilac gown with matching encrusted platforms was both a costume and work of art. I absolutely adore the long sleeves, the corset style bodice and the architecture of the skirt. Lady Gaga looked reminiscent of an electronica-inspired Cinderella!
While Armani isn’t knocking on most College Fashionistas’ doors, all you need is a little glitter and a little creativity to hone in on the Gaga way. Take a tip from the musical sensation and remember that fashion should always be fun!

If CU had a Fashionista of the month, this student would take the gold metal for most original and February’s most chic. I admire her willingness to push the limits by mixing a little hipster, a little prep, and a little vintage to create an outfit that’s totally her. This Fashionista credits American Apparel for most of her pieces like this Lace Print Nylon Tricot ¾ Sleeve Dress and these Winter Leggings.
And most importantly, least we forget, her fabulous fur coat. This piece is a true original as this Fashionista mentioned she found this piece at a local vintage store. If you’re interested in delving in the land of vintage fur yourself, try Buffalo Exchange or The Ritz on Walnut or Goldmine Vintage on Pearl.
Hint: If you’re not ready to rock a full ensemble like this daring Fashionista, try adding one element of her look to your basic outfit like this Blair’s Flair Headband or, for the Gaga-inspired, try these Lace Bunny Ears from Nasty Gal.

Pretty consistently at the change of every season I go through a depressing moment where I realize I hate everything in current wardrobe. Nothing is trendy anymore and the few pieces I still like are suddenly worn far too often than what’s considered acceptable. Sound familiar? All of us Fashionistas/os face the same wardrobe woes but it’s important for us students on a limited budget to get creative with our existing pieces instead of tossing them out in an expected meltdown.
This Fashionista pairs a vintage slip dress like this Noir Tuxedo Lace Dress or this Thunderbird Silk Dress both from Spanish Moss Vintage with a circle scarf like the ones I posted on CU’s College Fashionista a few weeks ago. Her aqua pendent, like this Geode Necklace from Urban, and white jacket modernize the look while the boots then bring it back decades. I love these patent leather vintage-looking David Tate Countess boots.
When it comes to fashion woes, my best advice is not to stress about outfits but rather shop for new accessories. Adding new pieces like boots, necklaces, hats, etc. will make a huge improvement in the overall feel of your outfit. Plus accessorizing is a great way to go bold without going over the top!

There’s something about a boy in loafers and a simple black jacket that provides an air of class and sophistication. The Fashionisto below keeps his look casual by wearing jeans and a sweater, but his outerwear makes this outfit versatile enough to head out to dinner and the bars. If you’re looking to invest in a pair of loafers boys, I’d follow this Fashionisto’s lead and go with a neutral color and texture like his suede camel pair. The shoe will stand out, but not too much. Keep your look simple and classy and the ladies will surely be impressed.

Weekends is the staple boutique for the Fashionistas/os of Boulder. Located on the corner of Broadway and Boulder, the shop boasts an extensive denim collection, enough Frye boots for any Fashionista to drool over, and clothes and handbags galore. It’s the perfect time to do some spring shopping and take advantage of their WINTER SALE. Markdowns are from 30% to 70% off for men and women! Whether you’re running in to grab a Velvet party dress for the weekend or a Modern Amusement T for the fellas, Weekends is your one-stop shop. It wouldn’t hurt to invest in yet another pair of denim, and J Brand Jeans have always been my personal favorite. Feast your eyes on the photos below and treat yourself to a new look for the Spring semester.

Call me tacky but I am absolutely obsessed with leopard print EVERYTHING. Shoes, bags, scarves, you name it. Anyone that knows anything about my style knows that this print adorns many signature pieces in my wardrobe. In fact my leopard print pumps (purchased in Spring 2007) have been worn so many times that the rubber sole on the heel has worn away to the point where the only thing left is the metal spike. Needless to say, despite the damages I still wear my leopard pumps on a weekend basis.
You could imagine that I was more than ecstatic when I found this Fashionista wearing these daring leopard boots. This would absolutely turn heads and I am totally jealous of her willingness to rock her boots around campus.
Here are some of my favorite leopard print finds:

There’s something about Boulder and earthy tones that just resonates with me. It’s got to be attributed it to our outdoorsy attitudes and zest for all things green. Back in November I found this trendy Fashionista wearing earth toned clothing and today’s Fashionista proves that strong color tones are certainly a trend in this thriving city. Being that it was not a super chilly day when this Fashionista passed me on The Hill I wasn’t surprised to catch her wearing a light cotton jacket like this Free People Ribbed Panel Knit Jacket. You can tell this Fashionista has a totally chill attitude when it comes to style and I love her dark, buttoned cardigan in contrast with her light tan boots. This Ella Moss ‘Ellasentials’ Knit Blazer is absolutely amazing and it satisfies both the laid back feel of a cardigan with the sophisticated look of a blazer.
Advice from this laid-back Fashionista? Don’t wear more than one thing from Gap at a time or else she thinks you’ll look too preppy! The Gap item of the day for this Fashionista is her maroon pants.
