WHAT TO WEAR: Casual Date Night

What to Wear

Happy Valentine’s Day, Fashionistas and Fashionistos!

I like to spend Valentine’s Day with my friends and family when I can, but these past few years at school I have started a new tradition. Instead of staying in, watching sappy romantic comedies and eating ice cream, I like to go out and spend the day treating myself. So if you can’t spend the day with your special someone or your best friends, I suggest hitting the town! Go out and buy yourself lunch, get a manicure, go shopping and enjoy the day. Why waste an opportunity for a good outfit? This Fashionista has just the right outfit for such a day.

Just because it’s an international day of love, that doesn’t mean you have to be dressed up in hearts, reds or pinks. This Fashionista’s velvet floral dress gives a slight nod to the holiday and remains appropriate in the warmer days of winter. The ’80s flashback velvet dress is a great transition piece that can be worn with a cropped jean jacket, tights and boots for cooler weather or by itself with a cute pair of heels or flats for warm early spring days.

One Simple Change: I spotted this Fashionista after class, so she chose to accessorize very lightly. To add a bit of flair and take this look from daytime casual to full on date night (with a significant other or with your own fabulous self), throw on a few gold bangles or a statement bracelet like this one from Etsy, cute heels, lipstick and a jacket. Whether you’re going out with friends, your significant other or yourself, you’re sure to turn a few heads Fashionista!
