Trendz Market is a sprawling specialty shop that devotes its space to fashion and jewelry business owners and designers in the local area. Essentially, the shop is a venue for individual boutiques to display their merchandise generously across the store’s interior space. Simply by taking a quick peek into the shop, it’s easy to see Trendz’s brilliance in bringing together so many diverse designers under one roof. Specifying in high end jewelry to original home décor, the varied boutique shops represented at the store are brazen examples of the many ways individuality can be expressed through the spirit of fashion.
Name: Cassie Lu
Role: Head Lead
CollegeFashionista: What is Trendz about?
Cassie Lu: We have over 30 different vendors under one roof. Each vendor is broken up into his or her own mini boutique. Each vendor supplies their own inventory and does everything on their own—their merchandising, all of that. Trendz is very unique in that way since everything looks different in every booth because each shop owner has his or her own personal style.
CF: How do you interact with the individual shop owners?
CL: The shop owners all come in and arrange their space on a regular basis so they’re in the store at least once a week. They’ll come in and interact with us [and] tell us about their new products. They like to let us know what is great in their stock because we don’t order in or do inventory. They really do a great job of letting us know what they’re carrying, what brands they’re carrying and what kind of things they have. We have a really solid relationship with them.
CF: What are you favorite trends for the end of summer season?
CL: It’s hard because we’re so different in every way, so it’s kind of like whatever trend you’re looking for we carry it. Anything that is trendy right now, the vendors are great at keeping up with. We’re seeing a lot of kimonos, maxi dresses, fringe and Aztec print. We do a lot of updated basics as well, which would be like a cute top, but printed.
CF: What are your favorite jewelry styles for this summer and for the upcoming fall season?
CL: I like wearing longer necklaces, so longer pendants or anything with a tassel. I’ve also seen a lot of the delicate, tiny necklaces coming out. We’ve been getting a lot of little initial necklaces or gold bar necklaces. Those are all adorable to layer, too! I think going into fall, it’s easier to wear a statement necklace because the wardrobe in the fall tend to have less prints and more muted colors. The necklines also tend to work better with a statement necklace in the fall.
