“Sustainably Chic” is the motto at The Green Goddess Boutique and that is exactly what they do; they recycle, restyle and repurpose. From vintage furniture to symbolic jewelry, The Green Goddess Boutique brings unique items from only the finest products with values of fair trade, recycled and environmentally-friendly practices.
This one-stop shop is dedicated to provide a fashion-forward boutique filled with unique pieces that customers can feel good about spending their money on. They have something for everyone – everything from apparel and accessories to beauty products and unique home items.
On top of their fair trade pieces such as their Alex and Ani bracelets, The Green Goddess also carries boho-chic brands such as Free People and Haute Hippie. The store also sells vintage furniture and home accessories. Upon admiring a few of these beautiful pieces, I got to meet and chat with one of the store supervisors, Audrey.
Role: Store Supervisor
CollegeFashionista: Tell us about The Green Goddess. How did this idea of a ‘green’ store come about?
Audrey: It all started when the founder and owner, Elyce Rembos, developed her unique perspective on fashion. Rembos is all about finding those unique pieces and developing a long-lasting style you can call your own. Our whole motto is being sustainably chic and shopping with a conscience. We carry a few popular brands, but we also have a lot of fair trade items as well. We are all about that! We have a lot of designers and vendors who give back to charities and some even have charities of their own.
CF: What do you love most about working for The Green Goddess?
A: I love companies that have a heart. I love that we support green, cruelty-free and global fair trade. I also love how we carry items from all around the world: vintage trays from Morocco, silver inland jewelry from Tibet, hand-woven knits from Bali and so much more!
CF: Can you tell us a little about the crystal globe in the center of the store (see photos)? It is too stunning to go unnoticed.
A: It is impossible to pick a favorite color! The changing colors symbolize humanity in all of its marvelous different shades, and the globe in general represents the world in all of its purity.
CF: Apart from being eco-friendly, what would you say sets you apart from the many other boutiques in the area?
A: We have a very boho and hippie chic vibe through out the entire store, which is rare to find on Armitage. We have some hard-to-find brands that celebrities rave over, with a wide variety of price points, which really attracts our clientele. Shopping with a conscious is a new movement and we are here to stay.
