Teen Vogue has unofficially started a new holiday and it’s called Back-to-School Saturday. Throughout the month of August, apparel stores have teamed up with Teen Vogue to provide back-to-school savings for shoppers. On select days of the month, special events are held at major shopping malls across the country to get students excited for school. These special events include fashion shows, prizes and even guest performances. To get us ready for the school season, Teen Vogue hosted a kickoff event at Del Amo Fashion Center hosted by editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, Amy Astley, and Disney star, Debby Ryan. The event started with a fall-inspired fashion show and ended with a musical performance by The Janoskians. Maybelline gave shoppers free makeovers throughout the day. Being a Teen Vogue “It Girl,” I was lucky enough to work the event. Among the hustle and bustle of the day, I got to speak with one of the attendees in the audience. She shared her perspective on the event aimed at teens her age.
Name: Priscilla Ramos
CollegeFashionista: What was your favorite part of the event?
Priscilla Ramos: I really liked the fashion show. I would wear a lot of the outfits that I saw. I didn’t know who The Janoskians were before until today. So now I do so I’m going to look them up!
CF: What is your favorite part about back-to-school season?
PR: I like to see my friends again at school. We don’t get to see each other during vacation so it is always fun to get together and catch up.
CF: What are some back-to-school fashion trends that you are excited for?
PR: I have to wear uniforms for school so I can’t really play around with trends during the week. I’m allowed to dress up my look with accessories so that’s always fun to shop for. I like to buy accessories with bright colors or prints. My backpack is an important feature in my look so I bought one that wasn’t boring. It’s blue with pink roses on it.
CF: Summer isn’t over yet! What are some of your favorite summer trends?
PR: I enjoy the floral trend every summer. I bought this cute floral kimono at Forever 21 and I’ve been wearing it all summer long.
