When you are trying to get into the world of fashion in your city, you might not know where to start. Well, the best way of learning more about all the fashion parties and all the “it” girls and boys is through an insider. I was excited to interview Sergei Mogilchencko, a photographer, blogger and a fashion enthusiast. Sergei has a full time job in IT, but during his spare time, he photographs street style for a major blog in Kazakhstan — Look.tm. From attending Kazakhstan Fashion Week to writing his own blog, Sergei keeps himself busy. He took some time out of his schedule to discuss his love for fashion and his plans for the future.
Name: Sergei Mogilchenko
CollegeFashionista: How did your love for fashion start?
Sergei Mogilchenko: I think I loved fashion every since I was a little kid. I loved going shopping with my mom, and making sure I get the best clothes for the budget.
CF: How would you describe your style?
SM: I would call it smart casual. I have a dress code at my job, so it affects a lot of what I wear. I have a lot of baseball hats and T-shirts in my wardrobe. I love military trend, like camouflage and cargo pants. Also, lately I’ve been wearing a lot of hats.
CF: Where do you see yourself in the future?
SM: I would love to open up my own boutique. I think that in Astana, we have quite a few upscale stores as well as big chain stores like Zara, Mango, etc. I would love to open something in between: unique clothes for a reasonable price. I also would love to feature young designers. Unfortunately in Astana right now there aren’t that many young designers and not as many possibilities for them.
CF: What are your favorite brands and where do you usually shop?
SM: As for high-end designers, I love Tom Ford. I usually go to outlets, but I also love shopping online. One of my favorite websites are YOOX and ASOS.
