Growing up, girls dream about the career they want to pursue. To be an actress, teacher, designer or even own a store, something has to drive you to achieve that dream. I got to sit down and talk to Rachel Broadstone, a fellow classmate from high school and at Kent State about how she is making her dreams a reality.
Name: Rachel Broadstone
Role: Fashion Merchandising Student
CollegeFashionista: What made you want to pursue a career in fashion?
Rachel Broadstone: I think it all started when I was younger. My mom and my grandma both owned stores that dealt with fashion and were always very fashion-oriented. In a way, it was always in my blood and bred into me.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
RB: I like a little bit of everything. I think my personal style depends on my mood and weather. I love jewelry and mixing that with jeans and a crop top or cut-off. I’m currently obsessed with high-waisted pants. As long as I am comfortable, I am good to go.
CF: Where do you hope to end up once you graduate from Kent State University?
RB: I want to be able to travel. I would like to be a sales representative for a company, or something along the lines of that. I want to end up somewhere that always stays warm, because Ohio weather is very unpredictable! Fashion show production interests me, too. I would love to experience that at some point in my fashion career.
CF: What is your favorite item of clothing that you have in your closet at the moment?
RB: My go-to clothing item and my absolute favorite are my black combat boots. I wear them with everything and they are so useful. I wear them for work, when I go out. They are so comfortable and versatile.
