AROUND TOWN: Ian Vonderhaff

Remember when you struck a pose in front of the mirror before catching the bus to school? I remember those days. I was that giddy, carefree child who modeled for no one but desired an audience. This Fashionisto is living my dream.

Name: Ian Vonderhaff

Role: Adult Male Model, Dynasty Models & Talent Inc.

CollegeFashionista: When and what inspired you to become a model?

Ian Vonderhaff: I was a senior in high school when my interest in modeling was sparked. It just seemed like something I could do and that I would be good at. Plus, it pays well. Some models get paid between $180 and $360 an hour to model for retailers like New Balance. It was a win-win situation for me.

CF: How would you best describe your style? What brands do you wear?

IV: I would describe my style as a mix of casual and preppy. I wear a lot of button-downs, polos, watches, collared sweaters and quarter zip-ups. I usually find these items at Tommy Hilfiger, Sperry Top-Siders, J.Crew, Ralph Lauren and American Eagle Outfitters. These clothes just naturally fit my body type. Right now, I’m wearing a white button-down shirt made by American Eagle Outfitters and a quartz analog watch by Bulova.

CF: How did you land a job at Dynasty Models & Talent Inc?

IV: About six months ago, I searched for top modeling agencies on Google, and Dynasty Models & Talent Inc. came up. They have open casting calls every Saturday, so I went down to Boston one morning and was interviewed and photographed by their team. The next day, I got an email that they accepted me as one of their models. It was my first big break into the modeling industry, so I was really excited.

CF: What would your advice be to someone who wants to get involved with modeling?

IV: Go to as many casting calls as you can. Get your name known in the industry, and keep pushing even when you feel like giving up.
