CollegeFashionista: What is Frankly Basic about?
CG: We try to gear towards hitting a lot of different demographics. We try to have a little something for everyone and on that same note we try to have everything from casual to dressy. That way you can find anything you’re looking for, but also timeless pieces that you can mix and match and not question why you bought them in six months.
CF: What is a piece that you would recommend to take from summer to fall and then to winter?
CG: I think it’s been easier lately to carry over some of the sundresses. We try to keep with smart colors and shapes that people can pair with little booties and a cardigan for fall and then even match with some textured tights for the winter. While I love jeans and a T-shirt, I think that dresses are something you can do year-round, whether it’s a maxi skirt with a sweater or just a little sundress that you can dress up or down. You can do a maxi with a tank top and keep it simple but then come, fall just throw a big, chunky cardigan or a leather jacket on and some boots with it and you can keep it in style.
CF: What would be a good outfit that you would choose from your store specifically?
CG: I’m a big fan of a great pair of skinny jeans that fit well, and then cuffing them with a little leather bootie. So a great pair of dark skinnies with a big, chunky cardigan and a lightweight tank top, that way you’re not too hot and stuffy. Layer on some fun, long jewelry and keep it simple.
CF: What do you personally use to jazz a basic outfit up?
CG: I love jewelry; I love to layer it. I also love to throw turquoise into the mix, I think it can match a lot more colors than people give it credit for. There’s just about any color that I think turquoise adds that little pop of something to. You can have on a gray V-neck T-shirt and some basic jeans but layer on some bracelets, rings and necklaces that have a pop of turquoise and it just takes it up a notch.
