Names: Lisa Ismert and Jocelyn Duffield
CollegeFashionista: What is the inspiration behind Frankie & Jules?
Lisa Ismert: Wanting to bring unique fashion ideas to the area at affordable prices. Wanting to dress women in unique things. Wanting to be more of a destination shop.
CF: How does the shop inspire the way you work?
LI: Our inspiration really is trying to ask customers as they come in if we can help them. Our biggest thing is that first and foremost we’re helping the customer find what they need and make them feel like they’re at home and they can come back and find stuff for another event. We want to make them happy first.
Jocelyn Duffield: I even feel like just the way that we feel is very homey, friendly; it makes people feel more comfortable. You’re not in a starch white building where it feels so high class that it’s really intimidating. With us, it feels like an old house, it’s very close and cozy. I think that makes people more comfortable and willing to come out of the box and even just talk to us.
CF: How has Frankie & Jules altered your perspective on fashion?
LI: I guess my style evolved with what we have here, it’s so eclectic. Some days I may feel like wearing a really girly dress and other days we’re in jeans and tops. That’s the great part of not loving everything that comes in to the shop because it also means that there’s somebody else out there. That’s the best part, you don’t want everyone looking the same, you know, you want everyone to look different.
CF: What trends do you like for summer right now? If you’re thinking ahead to fall, what trends are you looking forward to the most?
LI: A huge trend that we haven’t seen in the past is the crop top, which got really big this season. Also the palazzo pant, our customers have not been afraid to wear it this season. We sort of introduced it last year, it was very trendy on the coasts, but I think not a lot of people were wearing it so others were intimidated. They didn’t want to be first one to step out to a nice dinner and be wearing a palazzo pant.
JD: I’m obsessed with our chiffon dusters, just because it adds so much to a basic outfit. It comes in so many different varieties. You can wear it with a maxi dress, wear it with jeans and wear it with boots. It’s my favorite.
