AROUND TOWN: Flashbacks Recycled Fashions

The mainstream thrifting hype has significantly died down since Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” ceased to blast from our stereos, but that doesn’t mean the aforementioned thrift shops and their deals aren’t still out there. Unlike most college town thrift stores, Flashbacks isn’t filled to the brim with faded college T-shirts and random knick knacks abandoned by graduating students. Flashbacks houses the most eclectic mixture of new and vintage clothing, accessories, art and furniture—all at thrift store prices. So, next time you lament the fact that the clothes shopping options in Gainesville is dismal, remember to check out Flashbacks.

Name: Hannah Gutman

Role: Sales Associate

CollegeFashionista: How long have you been working at Flashbacks?

Hannah Gutman: About two months.

CF: What’s your favorite part about working at Flashbacks?

HG: I think my favorite part about working here would definitely be the people that I work with. Everyone here is awesome and my boss is fantastic. It’s just such a well-functioning and relaxed environment.

CF: Is there anything in the store right now that you wish you could have?

HG: Everything! I love everything in the store all the time. I have to use all my self control to not spend all of my money here.

CF: How would you describe your style?

HG: I’m not sure. My friend recently said she calls my style Sporty Spice, but that’s not really accurate for my outfit today. I like wearing a lot of dark colors, though.

CF: What clothing pieces do you find yourself constantly buying?

HG: Sundresses. I love sundresses because they’re so easy to throw on. Oh, and knee-high socks!
