AROUND TOWN: Fashionology

March 12th, 2015 at 2:00am

It’s clear that Fashionistas all love to shop. But what about running a boutique with your classmates where you get to buy, market and sell the merchandise yourself? Oh, and get class credit for it!  That’s what Fashionology is. Any Fashionista/o at Marist should check out this student-run boutique ASAP. I caught up with one of Fashionology’s staff to get the inside scoop on what’s new this semester.

Name: Sheridan Wagner

Role: Head of PR and Consignment, Fashionology

CollegeFashionista: What is Fashionology?

Sheridan Wagner: Fashionology is a completely student-run store. Students in the Fashionology class are in charge of everything that goes into the boutique.  We are the buyers, visual merchandisers, the Public Relations team and employees. Fashion students not in the class can also volunteer to be Sales Associates. We sell a wide range of jewelry, tech accessories, beauty products and the Marist Brand. We also feature consignments; any student who designs or makes products can sell them at the boutique.  Right now we are featuring dream catchers as well as handmade canvas art.

CF: How did you get involved in Fashionology?

SW: I am a junior and I have volunteered as a Sales Associate in the past. I decided to take the class this semester to be more involved.

CF: What is the Marist Brand?

SW: The Marist Brand is a student designed line featuring Marist logos and images. It was founded last year as a capping project. The Marist Brand includes clothing and accessories for men, women, children and even pets. It started as a way to have Marist apparel that was more fashionable than something you would find at the campus bookstore. What began as a couple of T-shirts and a beanie has expanded in the past year to include more and more products every week.

CF: What is the biggest trend at Fashionology this semester?

SW: A popular seller right now are Chavez for Charity bracelets. Each color bracelet represents a different charity that gets a donation with each purchase.

Learn More: Fashionology is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-5:00 p.m. in the Donnelly Fashion Plaza. Follow Fashionology on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  For even more updates, follow the Marist Fashion Program on Instagram.
