If you’re looking for a change of pace from the Main Line’s signature prep, Eaves offers chic looks from designers you cannot find anywhere else. Fashionistas who love brands like Frame Denim, rag & bone and Isabel Marant, look no further — this is the place for you. Owner and fashion veteran Susan Ahn gave me the inside scoop on her Wayne, Pennsylvania boutique and the back story on how her fashion dream became a reality.
Name: Susan Ahn
Role: Owner, Eaves
CollegeFashionista: How did Eaves get started?
Susan Ahn: I was working in the fashion industry for twelve years. I worked in merchandising for Marc Jacobs and then Anthropologie. I always wanted to own my own business and my corporate career gave me the learning to make that possible. After my second child, I started looking for spaces in the area and once our current location was made available everything started coming together.
CF: What’s the concept of the store?
SA: I wanted to give women a world edit to a suburban and intimate community. I wanted to provide a place that has pieces that you could not typically find in any other store in the area.
CF: What makes Eaves special?
SA: We have pieces and designers you cannot find anywhere else.
CF: Who shops here?
SA: Our typical shopper has more of an attitude than an age. We have mothers and daughters who shop here together who like different things but also share similar likes. That’s what I think is the most amazing thing to see.
CF: What kind of looks does Eaves have?
SA: My favorite designers in the store right now are rag & bone and Isabel Marant. I’ve recently become enamored with their collections. Many of our looks offer that contrast between menswear and feminine clothing, which is part of what makes our selection of pieces so interesting and different. We like to say our clothing is comfortable but also very stylish.
