AROUND TOWN: Creatures of Comfort

Around Town

There are always those little places you drive or walk past, and wonder what they are or if they have a story. Every day I leave work, drive down Melrose, pass the Creatures of Comfort boutique and wonder what could be inside their dimly lit windows. CollegeFashionista allowed me to explore through this unique boutique, and learn more about the company. With only two locations in Los Angeles and New York City, Creatures of Comfort is a treat here in LA and I was excited to learn more!

Name: Lauren Dimeski

Role: Sales

CollegeFashionista: What’s your go-to work attire?

Lauren Dimeski: My go-to work style is pretty much what I’m wearing! I love Acne Studios jeans and my Acne Studios Pistol boots. I also will always resort to the basics, such as an oversized T-shirt or sweater. Comfort is key.

CF: What inspired you to work at Creatures of Comfort?

LD: It’s actually a funny story! I have worked on this strip for a long time, and Creatures of Comfort was my own little gem. I worked at a store next door, and would always come in and make purchases and discover cool new designers I’d never heard of. A spot opened up to work here, and I was so excited.

CF: What are your favorite designers that Creatures of Comfort carries?

LD: I love Acne Studios so much, especially their jeans. I also really like Y’s by Yohji Yamamoto and, of course, Isabel Marant.

CF: What are your favorite pieces in the store now?

LD: The Acne Studios signature moto jacket with stars is super cool. I also am into culottes and wide-legged pants for summer and fall, so I love the wide-leg floral pant we carry by Yohji Yamamoto. I love that we have pieces that are so unique to any store, so I have to point out these awesome hair clips we have that are handmade in France.

CF: What do you thinks are the top trends for summer?

LD: Absolutely Birkenstocks, here in California. Our slip-ons are selling like crazy, especially those by Woman by Common Projects and Ancient Greek Sandals. Also, as I mentioned before, wide-legged, high-waisted trousers are huge in Los Angeles for the warmer seasons. Finally, floppy straw hats are perfect for the beach and many customers have come in for our 100% seagrass hats!

Learn More: Check out Creatures of Comfort at 7971 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA or at 205 Mulberry St, NYC, NY. Not in LA or NYC? No problem! You can check out the Creatures of Comfort online store as well.
