AROUND TOWN: Carolina Arango

Fashion bloggers are taking the fashion industry by storm. With 2015 approaching, a ton of people are jumping on the blogging bandwagon. There are countless fashion bloggers that are eager to share their inspirations but remain under the radar. Luckily for me, I discovered an amazing blogger creating high quality content in my own backyard.

Starting your own fashion blog may seem like a daunting task, but this girl is a natural. Let me introduce you to Carolina Arango. When I heard that Carolina was starting a fashion blog of her own, I had more than a few questions to ask her. Who wouldn’t want to take style advice from this Fashionista?

Carolina is pictured in a shirt from TOBI and shorts from Forever 21.

Name: Carolina Arango

Role: Fashion Blogger

CollegeFashionista: Why did you decide to create Salty&Chic? What inspired you?

Carolina Arango: I’ve always had a strong interest in fashion. I subscribed to a ton of  magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Marie Claire. When fashion week came around I’d look at slideshows of collections. In high school, I joined the newspaper and wrote a monthly column, “Fashion Forward,” on the latest trends. I wanted to continue writing about fashion after I graduated on a more personal level incorporating more of my style, so Salty&Chic began.

CF: What are your goals for your blog?

CA:  I want to be a source of inspiration when people are getting dressed. I want people to head over to my blog and see how to wear a trend without spending a fortune because you don’t need a million to look like a million. My blog is a hobby as of right now. I invest a lot of time into it because I enjoy posting. I would love to make a living out of it one day.

CF: What are some trends you are looking forward to this season?

CA: In 2015, I am looking forward to several things. I love the lightweight trench coats, especially since I live in Miami. It’s a comfortable layer that can be used to dress an outfit up or down. I am excited to see how people incorporate the gingham, “the print of spring 2015,” into their street style. It is very fun and retro. And of course, I love the classic all white and shirt-dresses that always come back.

CF: What advice do you have for someone who is thinking about starting a blog?

CA: Commitment and passion. You need to be reliable and consistent. I work and go to school aside from my blog and it was really hard to keep up but I’ve set a schedule for myself and that has helped a lot. It shouldn’t be a chore. You should love what you write about because it will reflect your work.
