AROUND TOWN: Blink Boutique

Around Town

Erna Bombeck, an American humorist, once said: “The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.” This reminded me of the never-ending shopping experience that I encounter when I walk into stores; I go in looking for a specific thing and end up spending way more time inside than I had originally planned. One of the stores that I can always lose myself in is Blink Boutique in Louisville, Kentucky. Blink is one of Louisville’s hidden gems, but once you’ve found it, you will look there for every occasion. Blink is located on Lexington Road among design shops, antique shops and interior design shops. I first went into Blink to find a dress for an upcoming wedding, thinking that all the store has was dresses. I found the perfect dress as well as another stack of clothes that I never wanted to let go. Blink proved me wrong. It actually offers much more than dresses and dedicates itself to clothes that can fit any occasion from casual to formal.

Name: Jillian King

Role: Store Manager, Blink

CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite part about Blink?

Jillian King: I would probably say that we cater to a variety of different age groups. Out customers range from early teens to a regular we have that is in her 90s. So, I think that’s probably the best part. And the pieces are actually ones that you can wear every day. Or if you have a special occasion then we always have something for that too.

CF: What is your favorite piece that you have gotten at Blink?

JK: My boots by Cynthia Vincent. I wear them non-stop. Probably one of the best purchases I’ve made.

CF: What is your favorite occasion to shop for at Blink?

JK: Well, that’s one of the things I think people don’t realize is that we have everyday pieces  – super casual things that you can wear at any time. But, we also have pieces perfect for occasions like weddings, reunions, graduation and things like that.

CF: What season is the best time to visit Blink?

JK: Fall, definitely, because I think it’s so fun to layer. And then you can wear more pieces together.
