Name: Anthony Macias
Role: Fashion design major, Gap visual team
CF: How would you describe your aesthetic?
Anthony Macias: My style is simultaneously growing up with me. I take a little bit of inspiration from everything but I mostly pull ideas from people in the downtown area – Pilsen, Logan Square and Wicker Park.
CF: How do you dress appropriately for Chicago weather?
CF: If you only had three items of clothing in your arsenal, what would they be?
CollegeFashionista: What class has inspired or challenged your way of thinking when approaching design?
AM: A class called Clothing & Society. I learned a lot about fashion in culture and how it is intertwined into absolutely everything about us. I also took garment construction, which was very difficult. Now when I look at pieces, I look at them differently and think of how I can make them on my own.
Learn More: When he’s not on the Mag Mile (in these amazing sandals) or painting, Anthony looks forward to designing some of his own clothes. With a few years left of studying, keep an eye out for his creations at Columbia College Chicago!
