Prints are back! And clearly brighter than ever. I spotted this Fashionista strolling to lunch in the West Village in downtown Manhattan. I saw her brightly colored wrap skirt from a block away and could tell her sense of style was impeccable. What struck me most with her ensemble was the combination of a leather, bold belt made by Hermes, with such soft materials and colors. However, it definitely worked to her advantage.
After a big move from New York to Los Angeles a few years back, this Fashionista explained her desire to keep bits and pieces of her past and future in her style and inspiration. “I love the bright, beach patterns of LA, along with the vintage and classiness that New York has to offer.” When comparing the styles of the two cities, it is so easy to fall into one category and lose the inspiration from the other. What is so great about this Fashionista is that you could not tell off hand if she was a native of the West Village, or a visitor from Westwood, LA. She could even be traveling abroad from Madrid!
Her eye for fashion and ability to combine such different pieces is so evident. Her bag, by Michael Kors, adds a bit of urban flare. When searching for beautiful, Indian-esque patterns such as her skirt, there are a few go-to places right here in New York. Roberta Freymann is an all-time favorite, and the designer of this particular piece shown. Ro’s Market also has many beautiful options that are brought over straight from India. Both stores are so aesthetically pleasing that it is impossible to leave without a purchase. Before summer comes to an end, remember that prints are the way to go.
