ACCESSORIES REPORT: Tied With A Bow

Accessories Report

First and foremost, happy midterms to all my Fashionistas/os out there! These last few days leading up to spring break are toughies; so many exams, so many papers, so little time. And, let’s face it, accessorizing pretty much goes out the door when 50 percent of your grade is on the line. Never fear — there are still a few brave, fashionable souls left out there.

Exhibit A: this Fashionista who stole my heart at first glance. First of all, we were both rocking bright red skinny jeans, a personal favorite, so obviously it was meant to be. But her headscarf is the real showstopper of the look. I absolutely adore the red animal print combination and the little bow on top — very on trend. The real reason I love this scarf is the major midterm week problem it solves: the bad hair day.

To get this Fashionista’s look, opt for this fabulous tiger stripe scarf from H&M. Fuchsia, fierce and fashionable, it will keep your (perhaps unwashed) hair covered and out of the way so you can focus on acing your exams. Post midterm week, if you’re beach bound, check out this bright Echo scarf to add a little something extra to your bikini and keep the icky sand out of your lovely locks.

One of the great pluses of going for a headscarf is that there are so many affordable options to choose from. Who doesn’t love getting more for less? That being said, a beautiful silk scarf is truly timeless, and I would be remiss not to share a few of my luxe favorites. Even if all most of us can do is drool at our screens.

My first must-have is the classic Alexander McQueen skull scarf. With a veritable potpourri of colors to choose from, McQueen makes an otherwise hardcore print chic and accessible. I also really like Emilio Pucci’s abstract designs for a little something different. But of course in the scarf world, Hèrmes takes the cake every time. My obsession this season is their beautiful turquoise and orange tone silk twill Kilim. It’s simply perfection.

Please don’t be discouraged by the triple digit number next to the dollar sign on these price tags. Instead, let these beautiful works of art be your inspiration as you tough it out through exams. Kill it in the classroom like you kill it with your street style, and you’ll be on the fast track to success and the Hèrmes heaven that comes with it.

Spotted: Dolce&Gabbana’s spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection was chock-full of lovely silk headscarves, not to mention equally beautiful printed separates.
