ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: ’40s Inspired

All About Beauty

Today's Fashionsita takes it all the way back with her '40s-inspired look, and nails it from head to toe. The '40s women style revolved around being angular. Broad shoulders and trim hips and waist. These were achieved with shoulder pads and belted dresses. Dresses and skirts were knee-length and were either flared, pleated or straight. Heels were oval shaped. A short heel was the most practical. This fashionista illustrates this nicely with a simple, just above the knee, floral dress that has a wide shoulder sleeve. The sleeve creates a broader shoulder, and a small brown belt wrapped around her waist really flatters her silhouette. The Fashionsita topped it off with red-bow continental heels.

This look's little details speak so loudly that several accessories aren't even needed. I love the '40s-inspired beauty from the hair to the makeup. During that time women's beauty trends consisted of a full red lip, prominent eyebrows, flawless skin, eye shadow kept to a minimum and it's all about the liner and mascara. Today's fashionista demonstrates that perfectly with a simple cat eye with the top reverse roll in her hair. This top reverse can be easily recreated by taking the amount of hair you want, wrapping it around your finger then pinning it down. Depending on the size of your roll you may need a curling iron and hold spray. The cat eye is super easy just apply a thin line of liner to the end-tip of lash. The most important element is the cherry lipstick that pulls this look together.  Cherry lipstick was huge this summer and I see this beauty trend continuing through the fall months. So if you haven't bought a stick, you should put it on your next shopping list. Once you try it on and love it you will want to wear it everyday.

Its amazing how a little lipstick and a different hairstyle can transform an outfit. The hair and makeup plus the red pumps really took the little floral dress to a whole new level. From modern to vintage, with little to no thrifting necessary. Can you say win?
